I've never met a cookie I didn't like and these oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are at the top of my favorites! Whip up a batch of these cookies in almost no time at all using ingredients you already have in your pantry and refrigerator.
Oatmeal cookies traditionally have raisins, but the unexpected is sometimes delicious. I've added chocolate chips to these cookies. You just can't go wrong with a little extra chocolate.

- Oats - old-fashioned oats work best in this recipe. You want oats with some texture!
- Flour - all-purpose flour
- Butter - salted butter, softened to room temperature
- Brown sugar - adds flavor and helps with the crispness of the cookies
- Chocolate chips - milk chocolate, but dark chocolate would work too!

- Cream butter and sugar together
- Add eggs and vanilla
- Mix in flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt
- Fold in oats and chocolate chips
- Scoop mixed cookie dough onto an ungreased baking sheet
- Bake in a preheated 375° oven for 10-12 minutes
- Use softened butter
- Mix well between each addition of ingredients
- Scrape down the sides of the bowl to make certain all ingredients are well mixed
- Preheat oven before baking
- Do not grease your baking sheet
- Use a small scoop to keep cookies the same size
- Cool cookies for 2 minutes on a baking sheet. Then move the cookies to a baking rack to continue cooling.

Now this is my kinda cookie! I love oatmeal cookies, but Laura has always complained that oatmeal raisin cookies are a waste of a cookie. I've always disagreed...vehemently! But now we can have the best of both worlds. Oatmeal cookies for me with chocolate chips for Laura!
