Hearty pecan chocolate chip cookies are loaded with chunks of pecans and chocolate chips.
These are jumbo-sized cookies sure to satisfy even the hungriest of appetites!
Pecans and chocolate
This isn't your typical chocolate chip cookie! This cookie goes above and beyond the average cookie and is loaded with pecans and chocolate chips.
The pecans add crunch, flavor, and heartiness. These are thicker cookies that are slightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.
Make these cookies to serve for dessert, an afterschool snack, to pack into lunch boxes, or to sell at a bake sale!
I've made these pecan chocolate chip cookies larger than a normal-sized cookie and used a big ¼ cup scoop to portion these out.
Key ingredients
- Pecans - chopped. You could toast your pecans a bit before adding to the cookie dough. This will give a slightly deeper flavor to your cookies.
- Chocolate chips - I use semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Butter - I use salted butter. Make certain your butter is soft so it can fully be mixed in with the sugars.
- Eggs - I usually pull out my eggs along with my butter so both come to room temperature
- Sugar - Brown sugar and granulated sugar
- Vanilla - Use pure vanilla
Step by step directions
- Cream butter until soft and smooth
- Add both sugars and mix for 1-2 minutes
- Add eggs and vanilla
- Mix in flour, baking soda and salt
- Add chopped pecans and chocolate chips
- Use a scoop to form balls of dough and place on a baking sheet
- Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 12-14 minutes
- Allow cookies to cool for a minute then remove from baking sheet and continue cooling on a baking rack
Recipe tips
- Be certain to fully preheat your oven before baking cookies
- Use a scoop to form evenly sized cookies
- Give a bit of extra space on your cookie tray. I normally fit 12 cookies on a tray, but with these jumbo-sized cookies, I just place 6 cookies.
- Allow cookies to fully cool before storing them in an airtight container
- Use parchment paper on cookie sheets or bake on an ungreased cookie sheet
