Homemade Ice Cream and Frozen Desserts

by Kathy Berget · Updated: May 21, 2026 ·

Strawberry Ice Cream in a bowl with fresh strawberries.

There is something so satisfying about pulling a container of homemade ice cream out of the freezer and knowing you made it yourself. Around here, frozen treats are not just a summer thing. We eat cold desserts all year long! From rich, egg-based custards to bright and tangy fruit sorbets, I have spent years perfecting my favorite recipes, and I am so excited to share them all in one place.

Whether you are craving something deeply chocolatey, refreshingly citrusy, or a fun, fruity popsicle the kids will devour, there is something on this list for everyone.

The best part about making your own frozen desserts is that you are working with real ingredients, fresh fruit, pure vanilla, and real cream. No mystery ingredients, just pure deliciousness. If your ice cream maker has been sitting in the back of the cabinet, now is the perfect time to dust it off. Grab a spoon and let's get churning!

The popsicles are even easier to make, and no churning involved.

1. Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

This is the one I come back to again and again. A classic custard base gives it that rich, smooth texture that store-bought just can't match. It's perfect alongside a warm fruit crisp or, honestly, just eaten straight from the bowl — no toppings needed.
