Blackening seasoning
Blackening seasoning is a blend of herbs and spices that you apply liberally to just about any protein but can also be sprinkled over veggies.
This blackening seasoning is perfect on salmon, shrimp, chicken, or even steak. It's perfect on this recipe for blackened walleye or blackened mahi mahi!
The protein is cooked, often in a hot cast iron pan and the seasoning becomes just slightly charred or blackened.
The end result is a deliciously flavored food that will awaken your taste buds!

- Smoked Paprika - Adds great flavor and color. Regular paprika can be used if smoked paprika is not available.
- Cayenne Pepper - Adds flavor and spice. Feel free to double the amount of cayenne if you prefer your blackened foods spicier or decrease by half if you prefer it milder.
- Onion and Garlic Powder - Adds delicious flavor
- Dried Herbs - Basil, oregano, and thyme add a great balance of flavors
- Salt and Pepper - I use coarse kosher salt, but any coarse salt works well.
