Tortillas wrapped around chicken and caesar salad.

I’ve taken my favorite Caesar salad, added chicken and turned it into a handheld Chicken Caesar Wrap! My family loves these wraps for a quick lunch or dinner, but we also love them when we are taking a road trip or out camping.

I’ve come up with several tips for making these Caesar wraps on-the-go so that they are easy and delicious. No more limp lettuce or soggy tortilla wraps.

My method for making these wraps on-the-go is to prep everything and store it separately. Then when you’re ready to eat, you mix everything right into a large zip-top bag that was used for storing the prepped lettuce. Everything goes in, the top is sealed and then you gently flip the bag around until everything is mixed. The final step is to add the it all to a tortilla. After several days of camping or after a long day on the road, these wraps will be just what you’re craving. This method also works perfectly for meal prepping at home.

Essential Ingredients for the Perfectly Tasty Chicken Caesar Wrap

Ingredients for making a Caesar salad wrap.
  • Lettuce - Chopped Romaine lettuce
  • Chicken - Any cooked chicken works in this recipe. Use leftover grilled chicken, a rotisserie chicken, or grill up a chicken breast just for these wraps. Make certain the chicken is fully chilled before using. Chop chicken into one-inch cubes.
  • Caesar Dressing - I prefer to use my homemade creamy Caesar dressing. Use your favorite.
  • Parmesan Cheese - Shredded parmesan cheese works well in this recipe.
  • Wraps or Tortillas - Use large 10-inch tortillas, often labeled burrito size or use large sandwich wraps (usually sold near the tortillas and can be purchased in different flavors.)

What type of chicken do I use?

You have several options for chicken. Any cooked and cooled chicken will work. I used a couple of chicken breasts I threw on the grill and cooked. Once cooled, I chopped them up into chunks.

You could also use leftover chicken from a rotisserie chicken, an oven roasted chicken or beer can chicken. One time when camping I even used canned chicken.

Can I make without chicken?

Yep. Just omit the chicken for a vegetarian option.

How to make a Chicken Caesar Wrap

How to prepare Chicken Caesar Wraps for traveling

Prepare all ingredients at home

  1. Wash and cut romaine lettuce and place in a gallon zip top bag
  2. Cook chicken breast and cut into small chunks or cut up leftover chicken
  3. Make Creamy Caesar Dressing
  4. Place Parmesan cheese in a small container

I generally prepare everything at home and place into small containers or baggies. You could also buy a Caesar salad mix and assemble it when you're ready to eat. We did this once when we were on a two week road trip. We stopped at the store, bought a salad mix and tortillas and then at lunch time I quickly threw everything together. These chicken wraps make a delicious and healthy lunch.

To assemble when traveling

  1. Open bag used for storing romaine lettuce
  2. Add dressing, chicken, and Parmesan cheese to bag

Homemade Chicken Caesar Wrap Variations

  • Add crispy chopped bacon
  • Dice tomatoes and add to the salad mixture
  • Substitute leftover steak for the chicken. Chop steak into small slivers.

Recipe Tips

  • The amount of dressing needed may vary. Start with half the amount and add more as needed.
  • The amount of chicken is flexible. I often use whatever I have on hand.
  • Use large tortillas or wraps.
  • Don't overfill the tortillas.
  • Wrap burrito style or simply roll up the tortilla leaving the ends open. When eating, pinch the bottom end closed with one hand.

What to Serve With Chicken Caesar Wraps

You can serve any of your favorite side items with these wraps. Some of my favorites include

  • fresh veggies with beet hummus
  • creamy tomato soup
  • crispy chickpeas
  • crispy potato chips

This was AMAZING! I just bought a Caesar salad kit and because I have a crowd, I added two cups of chicken (Costco rotisserie) and extra Marie's Ceasar salad dressing, and also, some bacon bits. The recipe made seven wraps which I cut in half. My family RAVED about this recipe. Thank you SO much!

Great idea. I'll use tortillas that taste like from Mexico, nothing but flour, water, and lard.

What a great idea to take these as road trip meals! The options for eating once you hit the road are pretty limited at best, so I could get behind this idea. Plus, I love a good chicken caesar wrap! Yum!

It's so easy to just grab some fast food unless you are prepared with something delicious to eat. These are a much better option.
