What type of goat cheese do I use?

I used Chevre goat cheese in this recipes. Chevre is a soft, fresh cheese made from goat's milk. Most Chevre is mild tasting and very soft and spreadable.

You could also use other types of cheese in this recipe. You could try cream cheese, marscapone and a smooth, rich ricotta cheese. These alternatives, might not come in a log shape, but you could simply fill a baking dish with a cheese and then top with almonds and honey and then bake.

Crackers, apples and cheese topped with honey.

How do I make baked goat cheese?

  • Roll goat cheese in sliced almonds. Press almonds firmly into cheese so they stick. Cheese log rolled in sliced almonds.
  • Place goat cheese in a lightly greased baking dish.
  • Drizzle honey over cheese. Cheese log topped with almond and honey.
  • Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 10 minutes
  • Serve warm with crackers and fresh fruit. Goat cheese with almonds and honey.

Tips when making Baked Goat Cheese

  • Use the same baking dish for serving this cheese. Once the cheese is heated, it's too soft to transfer to another serving dish.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.
  • Store any leftover cheese in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Other great appetizers

I love goat cheese!! I haven't had it in so long, though, and I'm not sure why. I'm thinking I need to make this dish for the holidays. Pour a nice glass of red wine. Pull out the crackers, honey and goat cheese. I'll be a happy camper for sure. Yum!!
