You are going to love this Basil Mayonnaise!

Basil is one of my favorite fresh herbs. I grow several plants in my garden every summer. I love adding fresh basil to pastas and salads. I also make a ton of pesto and when I still have an abundance I make this basil mayonnaise. It is quick and easy and adds a wonderful flavor to any sandwich, wrap or could even be used to make a salad dressing.

My daughter loves this on her sandwiches during the summer time. We make it every chance we get.

Two ingredients is all this recipe takes: fresh basil and mayonnaise. That’s it! You can use your favorite type of mayonnaise….homemade, light, veganaise….

Big basil fan here too Kathy ~ except I go off the deep end and plant around 12 plants. But my neighbors all purge so I have to be ready for that! Fun recipe =)

I love basil, Kathy! I haven’t had much luck growing it. We recently picked up a variety of basil and hoping it’ll grow for us! What a lovely idea adding it to mayo! This would certainly make any sandwich extra special. Yum!!

You will need to visit your farmer’s market if your new variety doesn’t work. You need some fresh basil!

I always have basil in my garden and end up with more than I need. Pesto is always a great way to use it, but I love the idea of basil mayo! It sounds delicious and another perfect way to use up some fresh basil!

I sure do love basil mayo, Kathy. The first time I had it was at the Stonewall Kitchen cafe in York, Maine. And it was on the best sandwich ever with thick slabs of cherry smoked BACON. Gah. Love your recipe and that it uses fresh basil. Mine is going crazy right now, can’t wait to try your recipe.

One of the best things about growing basil is you can pick several leaves and the plant keeps going!

What a fun idea, Kathy! I’ve never thought about mixing basil into mayo. I bet you could do the same with pesto to make a creamy sandwich spread. We make a TON of pesto every year, too, and then I freeze it in ice cube trays for easy use in cooking. Thanks for the idea on this one!

We love basil here, too, but this year we already lost two plants, one regular and one thai basil. Guess it rained too much. Now we’ve planted a third one, with very small leaves, and it seems to be doing fine. Would love to try your basil mayonnaise. Looks and sounds awesome!

I love simple fixes to jazz something up, Kathy – and this is a brilliant idea. I have tons of basil growing – I’m making this this weekend! Thanks for the great idea. I wonder if cilantro would work too – I’ve got tons of that growing too.
