Key ingredients

Small bowls with berries, almonds and yogurt.

This section reviews the best ingredients and substitutions for this recipe. For an exact list of ingredients and quantities, check the recipe card below.

  • Yogurt - I use Greek yogurt and my favorite flavor is honey vanilla. You can use plain vanilla or even berry-flavored yogurt.
  • Granola - Use your favorite granola. When I have time, I love to use my homemade granola. Try to avoid granola with dried fruit. The textures of the dried fruit in this parfait make it difficult to eat.
  • Berries - Use any fresh berries available. I like to use a combination of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Use them all or just a few!
  • Nuts - Add a little extra crunch and protein with some sliced almonds or chopped pecans or walnuts.
  • Honey - Drizzle a bit over the top for a little extra flavor and sweetness. The honey is totally optional.

Recipe tips

  • This recipe is very versatile. All measurements are suggestions. Add more or less of any ingredient.
  • Feel free to omit or add additional ingredients
  • Use a spoon to place yogurt in glasses or jars, trying not to smear any on the sides. If doing a large batch of parfaits, you could place yogurt in a zip-top bag and cut off one corner and then pipe the yogurt into the glasses.
  • Garnish with a fresh mint leaf, if desired
  • If making ahead of time, add the granola just before eating. Otherwise, the granola will turn soft.

Yogurt parfaits are perfect for packing into lunch boxes, taking on a picnic or prepping ahead of time. However, in order to prevent the granola from turning soft, it does need to be kept separate until you're ready to eat.
