    Baking with Fresh Citrus

When I need a little sunshine in the kitchen, I reach for citrus. Lemons, limes, and oranges have a way of brightening up everything they touch. I love everything from a simple, quick bread to a stunning bundt cake that looks like it came straight from a bakery.

Fresh Citrus Bakes I Make on Repeat

When baking with lemons, limes, and oranges, I always use fresh ones. Squeezing real fruit and grating the zest makes all the difference, and once you taste the results, you'll never go back to the bottled stuff.

This collection is filled with my absolute favorite citrus baked goods and treats. There's a made-from-scratch lemon poke cake piled high with homemade lemon curd, a blueberry lemon bundt that's as gorgeous as it is delicious, and a lime zucchini bread that's become my go-to for using up the summer garden haul.

I've also included a refreshing lime sherbet for those hot afternoons when something cool and tangy is exactly what's needed. Whether you're baking for a crowd or just treating yourself to something sweet, there's something here for every citrus lover. Grab your zester and let's get busy in the kitchen!

    1. Lemon Poke Cake

    Lemon Poke Cake

This cake is made entirely from scratch — no boxed mix in sight. A homemade lemon curd gets poured right into the holes, and a cloud of fresh whipped cream goes on top. It's a luscious, lemony dessert that's worth every single step.

A stack of slices of orange pound cake topped with a glaze.

When citrus is in season, this is the first thing I bake. Fresh orange juice and zest flavor every bite of this moist, flavorful loaf, and it's just as welcome alongside morning coffee as it is served up for dessert.

    5. Lime Zucchini Bread

Slice zucchini bread topped with a lime glaze.

This is my favorite way to use up a bumper crop of garden zucchini. Two full cups of shredded zucchini make it incredibly moist, and the fresh lime glaze on top gives it a zesty, unexpected twist that keeps everyone coming back for another slice.
