Homemade and easy to make teriyaki sauce.

Homemade Teriyaki Sauce is simple and delicious.

Homemade Teriyaki Sauce pouring from a bottle

I have always used store bought teriyaki sauce. Never thought anything about it until we ran out. I decided to make it ourselves and wouldn't you know it....super easy and super delicious!

A tall glass bottle partially filled with a dark brown sauce.

This teriyaki sauce can become really salty tasting. Here are my tips to avoid that over salty taste:  Use a low sodium soy sauce and don't boil the mixture. Just bring to a simmer and then remove from heat. If it's too salty, add ¼ cup additional water and taste.

        Hi Kathleen,
If you want something non-alcoholic you can use rice vinegar or other light flavored vinegar instead of the sherry.

I make my own teriyaki sauce but I never use a recipe. I just throw stuff together until it tastes the way I want it. Pinning your recipe so I now have a real (and easy) recipe to follow! Yay! 🙂

I don't know how long it keeps! The first batch we used right up. The second batch has been in the fridge for one week and is still good.
