When I make Roasted Shredded Beef, I always plan on having enough left over for another meal. These BBQ Beef Sandwiches are one of my favorite ways to use it.

The tender shredded beef is tossed with barbecue sauce and piled onto a toasted bun. Since the beef is already cooked, these sandwiches come together quickly and turn leftovers into an entirely different meal.

One of the reasons I love making a chuck roast is how easy it is to turn the leftovers into another meal. The beef is already tender and flavorful, so there’s very little work left to do.

For these sandwiches, I combine the shredded beef with barbecue sauce and heat it until everything is hot. Pile the BBQ beef onto toasted buns, and dinner is ready in just a few minutes.

Shredded beef tossed with BBQ sauce, also called pulled beef, is a great way to turn leftovers into another easy meal.

    Key ingredients

Shredded beef, a bowl of barbecue sauce, and hamburger buns on a round board.
    • Shredded Beef - Use leftover shredded beef.
    • BBQ Sauce - Use your favorite store-bought or homemade BBQ sauce.
    • Buns - Make homemade hamburger buns or pick up a package from the store.

    Step-by-step directions

Shredded beef with barbecue sauce in a saucepan.
    1. Place shredded beef in a saucepan.
    2. Add BBQ sauce.
    3. Heat over medium heat until hot and bubbly, stirring often so the sauce doesn't burn.
    4. Serve over hamburger buns.

    Recipe tips

    • Start with ¾ cup of BBQ sauce. Add more while the beef is heating if you prefer saucier meat.
    • Stir the beef often while heating. BBQ sauce contains sugar and can scorch on the bottom of the pan. If your shredded beef is in large pieces, break it apart slightly before adding the BBQ sauce so the sauce coats the meat evenly.
    • Keep the heat at medium or lower. The beef is already cooked, so you only need to heat it through and warm the sauce.
