Apple Bread

Delicious and moist quick bread made with fresh shredded apples.

  • 1 ½ cups grated apples approximately 3 medium apples
  • ¼ cup butter melted
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt


  • ¼ cup butter melted
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon



  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Combine butter, sugar, milk and egg together in a bowl
    ¼ cup butter, ¾ cup granulated sugar, ½ cup milk, 1 egg
  • Stir in grated apples
    1 ½ cups grated apples
  • In a separate bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt
    2 ¼ cups all purpose flour, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Add flour mixture to apple mixture. Stir just until combined
  • Place batter in a greased 9X5 inch loaf pan


  • Combine melted butter, flour, brown sugar and cinnamon together
    ¼ cup butter, ½ cup all purpose flour, ¼ cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Add small clumps of topping directly on top of the prepared batter in bread pan
  • Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 55-60 minutes
  • Allow bread to cool for 10 minutes in pan then remove from pan and continue cooling on a baking rack. Allow bread to fully cool before slicing.


Tips for making quick breads

  • When mixing wet and dry ingredients together, don't overmix. Just stir until combined.
  • Be certain your oven is fully preheated
  • Allow bread to fully cool before slicing. This is the hardest part! It's very tempting to slice into a loaf while still warm. It will taste delicious, but will often be very crumbly.
  • Remove bread after cooling for 10 minutes in pan
  • Use a knife around the edge of the pan to release any bread stuck to the sides of the pan.
  • Fully cool bread on a baking rack
Any type of apple can be used in this recipe.
