Fresh Pear Muffins! These delicious muffins are made with fresh pears and a touch of cardamom.

Pear muffins made with fresh pears served on a white plate

I am still swimming in a sea of fresh pears! I am slowly working my way through them one-by-one making pear chips, canning pears and now making these delicious muffins.

This recipe doesn't use a lot of pears and I was a bit hesitant to stop all the canning and dehydrating to make muffins. But I love muffins. It is my excuse to stop and enjoy a cup of coffee and have a bite to eat. These muffins are definitely worth making.

A muffin cut in half on a plate.

These muffins are super light with very mellow flavors. Pears are very light in flavor and adding a touch of cardamom is just the right spice to match the pears.

Can I use canned pears in these muffins?

I used fresh pears when making these muffins, however canned pears work too. If using canned pears, drain pears and pat dry with a paper towel before using.

I just finished trying this new pear recipe. And it sounded wonderful, however it seemed to not use enough liquid. I don't know if it was because I substituted the sour cream with yoghurt but I got a very gumming texture I had to add in more milk. Any suggestions?

      Hi Cheryl,
I'm sorry these muffins didn't turn out for you. I haven't made these with yogurt so I'm not certain if that is the issue. This batter is thick, but shouldn't be gummy. I will recheck my measurements the next time I make these to make certain I've got them all correct. I'll keep you posted! Thanks 🙂

I'm waiting on my first pears of the season to ripen. Once they do, I hope to make a pie and these muffins! What a great recipe 🙂

We also have two pears trees but I confess making muffins has never occurred to me! Now I'm eager to try. The only problem is that my neighbor doesn't have pear trees so they all want some!!!
