I’m certain you’ve had Rice Krispies Treats before. They’ve been a classic forever. My husband loves to make them every few weeks. He whips up a batch and then portions them into individual servings for lunches throughout the week.

Rod was a bit offended when I said I was make an Easter Rice Krispie Treat. I had invaded on his territory. Rod is an excellent cook and shares a lot of his recipes, but he acts like these are his baby. Do you member the commercial for Rice Krispies where there is a mom making Rice Krispies Treats and she is in the kitchen banging pots and flinging flour in the attempt to make it look like she slaved to make a special dessert for her family? Yeah, that’s Rod. I think he thought I’d never made them before and I would learn how easy these really are to make!

I don’t even care that they are the easiest dessert to make. They are such a great treat! You just can’t go wrong with Rice Krispies Treat! Add a few malted chocolate eggs and you have a special Easter treat!

This recipe is pretty traditional and follows the Rice Krispies Treats recipe, but I’ve added additional marshmallows to make a bit more of the marshmallow glue that holds everything together. Oh, and I’ve added the mini malted colored eggs.

Tips:

  • Be certain to stir marshmallows will they are melting. They burn easily.
  • Work quickly once you add the cereal. The mixture sets up quickly.
  • Use the back of a pancake spatula, lightly greased to gently push down mixture.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Hilarious! I’m imagining Rod in the kitchen whipping up a batch of rice crispy treats! šŸ™‚ I love the idea of putting a fun Easter spin on this classic. We’re stuck at home with Robbie, and it looks like we’re gonna be holed up here for a while thanks to the coronavirus. I’m thinking rice crispies need to happen. Now I just need to go to the store to get Rice Krispies…wish me luck…
